Job Profiles
The CSVS job profiles have been adapted from the ‘National profiles for Healthcare Science’ which are intended to cover a wide range of professional groupings and healthcare science disciplines, including physiological sciences, clinical physiologists and clinical technologists. The CSVS vascular science profiles are designed to apply to new and existing vascular science roles. For some service management roles the generic national profiles for professional managers may be more appropriate and should also be considered.
The use of the additional title ‘Accredited Vascular Scientist’ may only be used for CSVS members who have passed CSVS written and practical examinations and maintained the full CSVS AVS accreditation.
Use of job title ‘Consultant’:
Many employers currently use the designation ‘consultant’ for clinical scientist roles where the professional standing of the role is treated similarly to that of medical consultant. This also applies to Vascular Science Service Manager / Head of Service profiles. Typically this will apply to those who hold HSS registration and/or are working within a relevant role.
