Job overview: Applications are invited to join a leading vascular ultrasound unit based in these two world famous London teaching hospitals. There is currently a vacancy for either a full time or part time substantive post which will suit a Society for Vascular Technology accredited vascular scientist who is keen to expand their horizons and encompass the delivery of diagnostic excellence to the principal clinical stakeholders, undertake vascular research and teaching. Those approaching accreditation should also apply and will be considered on a lower pay band. The post comes with the opportunity to study for HSST (Higher Specialist Scientific Training) with the National School of Healthcare Science. Currently we have six accredited vascular scientists, a trainee and an administrator. The unit performs a wide range of vascular and microvascular diagnostic methods with high performance scanners. We work closely with six consultant vascular surgeons, three vascular nurse specialists and other medical specialists. As well as performing vascular duplex scans, time is allocated weekly for research and professional study. Main duties of the job: To provide clinical diagnostic vascular ultrasound expertise to the Vascular Ultrasound Service and thereby deliver a comprehensive Trust wide vascular diagnostic ultrasound service to referring medical and surgical consultants. Detailed job description and main responsibilities: The principal responsibility of the post holder is to provide technical, scientific and clinical expertise to the vascular ultrasound service and to promptly and accurately produce a comprehensive report of the diagnostic procedures they undertake. To take scientific, technical and clinical responsibility for the quality of the diagnostic procedures and to ensure the adequate training and supervision of all staff employed by, or seconded to, the service in matters of diagnostic accuracy.
