The Vascular Ultrasound Lab at the Royal Derby Hospital is seeking to employ a full time (permanent, Part time hours may be considered) SVT Accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist (AVS). Those who hold a post-graduate level vascular ultrasound qualification and working towards SVT AVS qualification are encouraged to apply. Students training towards STP or other post-graduate level vascular ultrasound qualifications are also encouraged to apply, and may be considered at a lower grade.
This opportunity is for a Vascular Scientist to join our friendly and dynamic team that consists of: 1x AVS Vascular Scientist, 2x Part time Clinical Physiologists and administrative support. A further Vascular STP trainee is also due to start in September. Within the Vascular Service you will work with 9 Vascular Consultant Surgeons and 3 Specialist Vascular Nurses. The Vascular Ultrasound Lab itself sits within a friendly multidisciplinary department that includes Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastric and Neurophysiology. With up to 90 staff in total, our wider Clinical Measurement Department is a large and sociable place to work. Viewing of the department is welcome and encouraged.
Our Vascular Ultrasound lab is equipped with two Philips EPIQ Elites, a Philips Affiniti machine, a GE Vivid IQ machine and non-imaging Doppler equipment. We have 2 purpose-built ultrasound suites and a dedicated scan room in the TIA clinic. All are spacious and feature air conditioning and PACS reporting stations. The Vascular Ultrasound Service is expanding to provide Vascular imaging services to other Hospitals within the Trust, so may involve cross-site working. This post will also involve some weekend on-call work on a rota basis, providing imaging for the 7 day-a-week TIA service.
The successful candidate will be expected to perform a wide range of vascular investigations, including carotid and temporal artery scans, upper and lower limb arterial and venous duplex scans, AAA and graft surveillance scans. Non-imaging tests such as ABPI are also performed. In addition, you will also be expected to provide teaching, audit, supervisory and managerial support. The Vascular Ultrasound team actively encourages continuous professional development.
