Clinical Vascular Scientist

Vacancy Reference Number
287-ASUR-88-23 - Clinical vascular scientist
Closing Date
30 Jun 2023
Salary
Band 7
Address
Vascular Laboratory Clinic E, Ground Floor Lower |Lane Fazakerley Liverpool
Duration
Full time
The vascular team at Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust are looking for an accredited or nearly accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist/vascular sonographer to join our unit which presently consists of 8 clinical scientists, supported by a team of vascular specialist nurses, healthcare support workers and administrative staff. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, an excellent team player and committed to the delivery of high-quality patient care. The vascular laboratory sits within the Liverpool Vascular and Endovascular Service (LiVES) and is based over two sites. The departments are new and purpose built, supporting multidisciplinary working and one stop clinics with up to date high quality equipment. We have five main ultrasound machines within the department (1 Philips EPIQ 5, 4x GE Logiq e10s). We carry out a wide range of vascular investigations including carotid, aorta, upper and lower limb arterial and venous assessments, graft surveillance, imaging of endovascular aneurysm repair including contrast enhanced ultrasound. We also have close links to the AAA screening programme for Cheshire and Merseyside, providing training and support as clinical skills trainers and CAVA accredited assessors for the screening technicians progressing through their healthcare screening diploma. We are also supporting a full time, vascular STP student through their studies which this post will have training responsibility for. To be considered for appointment at Band 7, applicants should be accredited with the Society of Vascular Technology and/or have a PG Dip in Ultrasound with relevant experience to work at the required level of autonomy. We may consider applicants with less experience or who are currently working towards SVT accreditation or have recently completed/nearly completed the STP training programme, but appointment in this case may be at a lower banding and would depend on the level of support required to practice. The post is for 37.5 hours per week (full-time) but part-time hours will be considered. There is regular cross site working between the departments on the Royal Liverpool and Aintree sites and very occasional requirement to visit the Broadgreen site. Free internal staff transport is provided between all sites with excellent rail and bus services to both sites. Liverpool is a vibrant city with history founded in the arts and the red and blue of two premiership football teams. Liverpool is supported by excellent transport links with the Sefton and North Wales coast a short distance away with areas of special scientific interest and outstanding features. Please note: A face to face interview is required as you will need to give a presentation to the panel.
